Causes and Effects Farmers-Herdsmen Conflicts in Nigeria

This article examines the causes and effects /consequences of farmers-Fulani herdsmen conflicts in Nigeria. In Nigeria, conflict between Fulani herdsmen and farmers over the use of land and agricultural produce has become a threat to peace in most part of the country, particularly in the Guinea and Savanah regions of the country. This conflict arose from the intensity of production activities that are propelled by increasing demand for land. The aim of this article is to identify the causes of the conflict as well as the socio-economic effects of the conflicts on the host farmers in the affected region.
